The
“Imagine A Difference”
channel was formed to provide entertainment that makes a
difference ...
entertainment that educates the public about philanthropy and reminds
us that we each have the power to
change
the world. An
offshoot of ImagineTV, Imagine
A Difference uses leading-edge technology that overcomes many of the
band-width
challenges of many other forms of entertainment on the Internet today. |
Examples
of new school
charities include Habitat for Humanity for creating a grassroots
movement for home ownership, the Heifer project for donating animals to create and breed livestock to
provide self-sustaining support for poor communities, and Kiva.org for using
internet technology to support third world entrepreneurs.
Fund-raising efforts for the old school
charities thrive on guilt, albeit that they still do a great deal of
wonderful and very necessary work. Fund-raising
efforts for new school charities thrive on inspiration.
In fact the new school is less about
fund-raising than it is about engaging the donor to become an active
participant. The
old school focuses on
the war against poverty and defeating hunger, the new school focuses on
developing wealth and distributing ‘fishing rods’. The old school programming
focuses on the
desperate need for charitable donations, the new style emphasizes the
fulfillment that comes from volunteering and the joy that is created
for both
the donors and the recipients. We
want
the Imagine A Difference channel to be an uplifting experience that
emphasizes
new possibilities.
We hope you are inspired to increase your own personal contribution towards making a difference.
